Introduction

It took me five years after my son was born to finally realize the truth—he never loved us.
To end this painful marriage, I decided to take my son and leave. But fate played a cruel trick on us. During a rogue attack, I lost my wolf spirit, and my son lost an eye.
Just as I was drowning in despair, my usually cold and distant husband knelt before everyone, begging for forgiveness and swearing he’d be our rock for life.
So, my son and I gave him a chance—a 100-day trial.
If he proved himself, we’d stay.
But on the 99th day... fate shattered everything again.

Chapter 1

Summer' POV

"Alpha Foster, you orchestrated that so-called rogue attack—just to save Suzanna's child? You harvested organs from Luna Summer and your own son—do you really think it was worth it?"

Then came a voice I knew all too well—familiar, yet colder than a blade against skin.

"This is what they owe Suzanna and Moore."

My body trembled. A roar exploded in my head, and the ground crumbled beneath me.

No... no, it couldn't be true.

I had to be hearing it wrong.

It had to be a hallucination.

Foster is Felix's father. How could he—how could he hurt his own son for another woman's child?

I clamped a hand over my mouth to muffle the scream rising in my throat. I couldn't make a sound.

This had to be a nightmare.

But his voice dragged me back to reality—colder than death itself.

"As long as Suzanna is happy, I'll do anything."

In that moment, I could no longer deny the truth. Instinctively, I reached out and covered Felix's ears.

No. He couldn't hear this.

But it was too late.

Felix was shaking. His tiny body trembled beneath my hands.

I looked down—he was covering his mouth with both hands, his eyes wide with terror, disbelief, and something else...

A raw, soul-crushing pain.

He had heard everything.

The one who took his left eye, the one who haunted his nightmares—it was his own father.

And then, like a broken dam, the memories came flooding back—

Felix lying in the ICU, tubes and wires all over his fragile body.

He turned to me with his only eye, his voice as soft as falling leaves.

"Mommy... was it Daddy who took my left eye?"

I didn't know how to answer.

That night, I cried until my throat gave out, until my body seized, until I nearly disappeared into the darkness with him.

I blamed myself again and again:

Why did I take him away from the pack?

Why couldn't I protect him?

Why... why couldn't I even be a good mother?

I used to think all of this was just a cruel twist of fate.

But now I know the truth. The one I should truly hate... is Alpha Foster.

He took Felix's eye.

He shattered my wolf spirit—and stole my kidney.

Maybe the Moon Goddess took pity on me and finally let me hear the truth.

Five years ago, I married Alpha Foster—my fated mate—to help the struggling Silver Creek Pack.

Foster never believed in mate bonds, but I foolishly thought that if I loved hard enough, he'd eventually love me back.

After the wedding, I began to realize—his heart was never mine. That space had long been taken by Suzanna.

Still, I tried everything I could to melt the ice around his heart.

I worked tirelessly to manage the pack's affairs, trying to ease his burdens. I gave birth to our son, Felix, with joy in my heart—but all I got in return was his growing indifference.

Three months ago, I finally saw through the lies and the futility of it all.

I couldn't keep giving everything in a one-sided marriage. So I gathered my courage and left the pack with Felix, hoping to find a little breathing room for both of us.

But on the road, we were attacked by "rogues."

When I woke up, I learned that my kidney had been removed due to injuries from the attack, and my wolf had gone dormant. Poor Felix had lost an eye.

I blamed myself for taking him away. But then Foster suddenly appeared in our lives—

This man who used to hide behind leader duties to avoid us, who never even showed up on Pack Family Day.

Now he was always there—gentle, attentive. He came to the hospital every day.

He knelt to ask Felix what he wanted to eat, tucked him in at night, and sat by our beds until we fell asleep.

For a while, I let myself believe he had changed. That he had finally realized the importance of family. Maybe... we really meant something to him.

After all, our marriage began as a political alliance. I only ever wanted a little sincerity—even just a sliver.

But the truth is always cruel. I could feel Felix's tears wetting my fingertips.

My eyes stung too, but I crouched down and whispered for him to stay quiet.

We had to be careful. No one in this pack would protect us. My little pup was a strong Alpha—he nodded slightly and wrapped his thin arms around me.

Inside the room, the doctor's voice exploded in anger.

"What if Luna Summer and Felix find out the truth? What if the entire Silver Creek Pack learns you broke your blood oath and betrayed your mate bond?"

Foster said nothing.

He lifted a hand and absentmindedly stroked the moonstone ring on his left ring finger—the same ring we exchanged during our fated ceremony beneath the Sliver Creek pack.

I stared at that ring. It used to symbolize forever. Now it just felt like a cruel joke.

In the room, Foster finally spoke—his voice cold and steely.

"Then we'll make sure they never find out. All they want is a happy family. I'll spend this life—and the next—making it right. Show me Suzanna and Moore's latest health reports."

Too late, Foster.

Felix and I no longer need your fake love.

Inside, he flipped through the reports the doctor handed him. A trace of relief crossed his face.

"Felix's retinal transplant is stable... Moore can be released from the recovery pod. Good. I can breathe again."

The doctor went pale, trembling with rage.

"Alpha Foster! Suzanna may be important to you, but she is not your Luna! You took organs from your own son! That's a direct violation of Council law! If this gets out, it won't just destroy you—it'll destroy the entire Silver Creek Pack!"

"You really think it was worth it?"

Foster's golden-grey wolf eyes turned icy. He slammed the report onto the oak desk, his Alpha aura crashing through the room like a thunderstorm.

"Enough," he said coldly. "You don't get to lecture me. I'm Alpha. Your only job is to obey."

He paused, his voice turning darker.

"Suzanna only has one child—Moore. I couldn't just watch him go blind. He only lost one eye. Felix can still live a normal life. Under my protection, he'll be fine."

I almost laughed.

If "just one eye" is so minor, why not give up your own?

But I should've known—Felix and I never mattered in his world.

Then I heard the doctor again.

"You think you can keep this secret forever? That they'll never find out? You really believe that?"

Foster's voice was calm, certain. "They won't. I've covered every trace."

He even smiled—confident, smug.

"Besides... Summer and Felix love me."

Not anymore, I thought. The Luna who once loved you... died the day you betrayed her.

Inside, Foster rolled up the report and said flatly,

"Now that Suzanna and Moore are stable, it's time to bring them home."

I saw his gaze go distant—he was using mind-link, probably contacting his Beta, Smith.

Soon, Smith appeared from another wing of the hospital—Suzanna's room.

"Get everything ready," Foster ordered. "And make sure Summer doesn't find out."

Footsteps echoed down the hall, growing closer.

Instinct kicked in—I grabbed Felix and slipped into the shadows of a nearby corridor.

But... it was too late.

"Summer? Felix?"

Foster's voice rang out, with a note of panic.

I took a deep breath and met Felix's eyes. We wiped away our tears together.

When we turned around, I was already smiling softly.

"You've been gone a while. We got worried and came looking. I think we got lost—almost couldn't find our way back."

He blinked, then forced a smile. "Really? What a coincidence."

My eyes fell to the report in his hand.

My voice was calm, but left no room for argument.

"Is that... our test result?"

His eyes flickered. He quickly hid the papers behind his back.

"Uh... Let's talk back at the warehouse. No rush."

I looked at him—this man I once loved and trusted.

My lips curled into a smile, but my eyes were hollow.

"Alright. Let's go home."

I took Felix's hand and turned away.

Foster hesitated, then hurried to catch up—lifting Felix into his arms.

Still playing the perfect father.

Still pretending nothing had changed.

But everything has.

And I won't sit and wait anymore.

Getting out will take time.

But I will get Felix out of this hell.

"Kara." Cole’s voice drops. "Are you—did I hurt you?"
"No." "I'm fine."
"Fuck," he breathes. "You're—"
"Don't." My voice cracks. "Please don't say it."
"Aroused." He says it anyway. "You're aroused."
"I'm not—"
"Your scent." His nostrils flare. "Kara, you smell like—"
"Stop." I cover my face with my hands. "Just—stop."
Then his hand on my wrist, pulling my hands away.
"There's nothing wrong with wanting us," he says softly. "It's natural. You're our mate. We're yours."
"I know." My voice is barely a whisper.

I spent ten years as a ghost in the Sterling mansion—a debt slave to the triplet Alphas who made my life hell. They called me "Carrot," shoved me into frozen rivers, and left me to die in the snow when I was eleven.

On my eighteenth birthday, everything changed. My first shift released a scent of white musk and first snow—and three former tormentors stood outside my door, claiming I was their fated mate. All three of them.

Overnight, the debt vanished. Asher's commands turned to vows, Blake's fists became trembling apologies, and Cole swore they'd been waiting for me all along. They declared me their Luna and promised to spend their lives atoning.

My wolf howls to accept them. But one question haunts me:

Would that eleven-year-old girl, freezing and certain she would die, forgive the choice I'm about to make?
