Chapter 1
The music in the underground club was loud enough to shake the crystal glasses on the table, but Alessandro De Luca barely noticed it. Noise never distracted him. Not when there was business to finish.
He sat in the private balcony lounge overlooking the crowded dance floor below, one hand resting loosely on the arm of the leather chair while the other held a glass of dark whiskey. Neon lights from the club flickered across the polished surface of the table, casting brief flashes of red and blue over the men seated across from him.
Across the table, was Viktor Petrov, a man whose name moved quietly through the darker corners of Europe’s underworld. Petrov smiled too easily and that alone made Alessandro distrust him.
The Russian leaned back in his chair, swirling his own drink lazily. “You have a reputation, Mr. De Luca,” Petrov said in smooth English. “A young man with… impressive ambition.” Alessandro said nothing. Silence was often more powerful than conversation.
Petrov continued anyway. “You built your empire quickly. Faster than most men twice your age.” His gaze sharpened slightly. “Many people wonder how.” Alessandro finally lifted his glass and took a slow sip and then he placed it back on the table with quiet precision.
“People wonder about many things,” he said calmly. His voice was low but firm. Petrov chuckled. “Yes… but answers are expensive.” Alessandro leaned back in his chair. His dark eyes studied the Russian carefully.
This meeting had been arranged weeks ago. Petrov controlled a large network operating across Eastern Europe. On paper, the man wanted a partnership. Smuggling routes, logistics and mutual protection.
But Alessandro had spent years in the underworld and he knew when something smelled wrong. “Let’s stop pretending,” Alessandro said coolly. Petrov raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”
“You asked for this meeting,” Alessandro continued. “So say what you actually want.”
For a moment, the Russian watched him quietly, then the smile returned. “I like direct men.”
Petrov leaned forward slightly. “There is a shipment moving through the Adriatic next month.” “What kind of shipment?” Petrov waved a hand dismissively. “Product.” Alessandro’s gaze hardened. “What kind of product?”
The Russian did not answer immediately. That silence said everything. Alessandro slowly pushed his chair back. The faint scrape of leather against the floor cut through the music. “Then this meeting is finished.”
Petrov’s smile faded. “You are walking away from a profitable opportunity.” “I don’t deal in human cargo,” Alessandro said coldly. Something dark flickered in Petrov’s eyes. The atmosphere in the room shifted instantly.
Several large men standing near the walls straightened. Bodyguards, unruly and intimidating. Alessandro noticed every movement. Petrov sighed dramatically.
“You know,” the Russian said, lifting his glass, “people say you are difficult.” He took a slow sip. “Too principled for a criminal.” Alessandro stood. “I’m not a criminal,” he replied calmly.
Petrov laughed but the sound was sharp and humorless. “You run half the smuggling routes between Italy and Greece.” “I run logistics,” Alessandro corrected. “Weapons. Contraband. Smuggling.” He leaned forward slightly. “But I do not sell people.”
The room went quiet. Petrov studied him for several seconds. Then suddenly the Russian smiled again. “Very well,” he said smoothly. “If that is your line.” He lifted his glass in a small toast. “To boundaries.”
Alessandro did not return the gesture. But after a moment, he reached for his drink again. The whiskey burned slightly as it slid down his throat. Then he frowned faintly. Something about the taste felt…off.
Across the table, Petrov watched him carefully. “Strong drink,” the Russian said lightly. Alessandro placed the glass down again. The music downstairs seemed suddenly louder. His pulse was quickening.
Heat spread slowly through his veins. His eyes narrowed. Petrov leaned back comfortably in his chair. “I hope you will forgive the… unconventional negotiation method.” Alessandro’s voice turned dangerously quiet. “What did you do?”
Petrov’s smile widened. “A small insurance policy.” The warmth inside Alessandro’s body intensified rapidly. His breathing deepened. The room tilted slightly. He did not have to be told to know that he had been drugged of course.
Petrov tapped the table with one finger. “A rare compound,” he said pleasantly. “Very expensive and very effective.” Alessandro’s jaw tightened. “You’re a dead man.” Petrov laughed again. “Oh, I doubt that.”
He leaned forward, lowering his voice. “My daughter will join you shortly.” Alessandro’s eyes sharpened. “What?” “Consider it a gesture of goodwill,” Petrov continued. “Two powerful families are becoming… closer.”
The meaning was clear. Blackmail, scandal and control. Petrov wanted leverage over him. The heat spreading through Alessandro’s body was growing stronger by the second. Although his mind remained sharp, his body…His body was beginning to betray him.
Petrov glanced toward the door. “She should be here any....” A sudden crash echoed from the hallway outside. Shouting followed and Petrov frowned. “What the hell...?” The door burst open and a young woman stumbled inside.
Her dark hair was disheveled and her breathing uneven, as if she had been running. For a brief second, the entire room froze. Her eyes were wide with panic. Then she saw Alessandro.
Without hesitation, she rushed straight toward him. “Please...!” Her voice trembled. “Help me!” Two large men appeared behind her in the doorway. Petrov stood slowly. “What is this?”
The girl grabbed Alessandro’s arm desperately. Her hands were shaking. “They’re trying to...” Her voice broke. The men in the doorway hesitated when they saw Alessandro because everyone in the underworld knew his face.
Petrov’s expression darkened. “This is not part of the arrangement.” The girl swayed slightly, as if struggling to stay conscious. Alessandro felt the drug in his system burning hotter. But something else cut through the haze. Fear. The girl was terrified.
He looked down at her. Up close, he could see the faint tremble in her body. Her pulse was racing. Her eyes looked unfocused. She seemed to have been drugged. Just like him.
Petrov snapped his fingers impatiently. “Remove her.” The two men stepped forward but Alessandro moved first. His hand shot out, grabbing the edge of the table and flipping it over in one smooth motion.
Glass shattered across the floor. The sudden chaos froze everyone for a split second. Alessandro grabbed the girl’s wrist. “Come with me.” Before anyone could react, he pulled her toward the balcony doors.
Behind them, Petrov shouted. “Stop him!” But Alessandro was already moving. The cool night air rushed against his face as he pushed open the balcony doors.
Below them, the neon lights of the city stretched across the street. Three floors down. The girl looked over the railing in shock. “You’re not...” Alessandro swung one leg over the balcony. “Trust me.”
Shouting erupted behind them as the guards rushed forward. Without hesitation, Alessandro pulled the girl with him and he jumped. The fall lasted barely a second.
They landed hard on the roof of a parked car below, metal groaning under the impact. Pain shot through Alessandro’s shoulder, but he ignored it. A black car screeched to a stop beside them. The driver door flew open. “Boss!” Marco, his assistant.
Alessandro shoved the girl into the back seat. “Drive.” Marco didn’t ask questions. The car roared away from the curb just as armed men spilled out of the club entrance.
Inside the moving car, silence filled the space. The girl leaned weakly against the seat, breathing unevenly. The drug was clearly affecting her badly. On the other hand, Alessandro’s own control was slipping. The heat in his veins was becoming unbearable.
Marco glanced at him through the mirror. “Where to?” Alessandro clenched his jaw. “Somewhere quiet.” He looked at the girl beside him. Her eyes fluttered slightly and she whispered something faint. “Please… don’t let them take me back…”
Alessandro stared out the window at the dark city rushing past. Fate had a strange sense of humor. Because the woman who had just fallen into his arms…Was the girl he had unknowingly been searching for for thirteen years. But he did not know that yet.

Pregnant by My Husband's Rival Alpha
Those words should have destroyed me, but the truth was worse: I'd been used as a broodmare by the man who swore to love me, set up in a hotel room with a stranger because My husband Alexander Cross couldn't father children himself, and now I carried the secret babies of Damon Lester—the most powerful and dangerous Alpha in San Loris—while my own family replaced me with the daughter they'd always wanted. But when that same stranger's doctor appeared at my door, when twenty million dollars exchanged hands over a fake perfume bearing my secret identity, and when Damon's gray eyes locked onto mine with recognition I couldn't afford, I realized my carefully hidden life as the legendary perfumer Vera was colliding with a pregnancy that could cost me everything.
Could I protect my babies from the husband plotting my death, hide my true identity from the Alpha who's been hunting me for years, and reclaim the freedom I'd buried along with my dreams—even if it means standing alone against the wolves who see me as nothing more than a womb to be used and discarded?
